FAQs

Where are emco mats manufactured?

All of our mats are made in Germany.

What should I do when I receive the mat?

We would suggest that the mats should be washed to remove chemical residue caused by the production process and to make the pile stand up. Washing the mats can also improves the ability of dirt pick-up and moisturizing, and brighten the colours in terms of enhancing the quality of the mat appearance.

The fiber on the edge may merge with the rubber backing due to the high temperature pressing during manufacturing, but it is normal.

Can I wash an emco mat?

Of course! We recommend using water temperature under 60°C. Our mats can withstand at least 150 cleaning/washing procedures. Using excessive force to pull the mats out of the washing machinery must be avoided as this can cause damage to the border area.

Shrinkage of the mats caused by the treatment process is normal

What is the recommended detergent for mat washing?

In general, anionic detergents without optical brighteners should be used. We recommend non-alkaline detergents for mat washing.

How to dry the mat after washing?

High temperature drying is possible with temperature of between 65°C and 80°C for around seven minutes as first step. Then dry for another seven minutes at a lower temperature (approximately 30°C to 40°C).

The mats should not be exposed to high temperatures for a long period of time and we recommend removing the mats from the driers as soon as the drying process is finished.

What is the maintenance guidance?

emco mats are intended for indoor use. Under UV light and ozone, sooty deposits may be produced from the nitrile rubber backing. This can make the mats losing the original colours and permanent discolouration of the entire mat.

Washing on a regular basis (at least every four weeks) will prevent sooty deposits forming.

How should I store a mat?

Please do NOT fold the mats; store them flat and dry at room temperature, rubber side against pile side. Kindly ensure that the the rubber side is facing outwards if you store your mats rolled up. You must prevent the mats from being folded before they are rolled as this can cause the borders curling.
